We are excited to roll out our new digital collection of e-books and audiobooks. Download the Sora app to your iphone or Android, log in using your SD62 WiFi credentials, and enjoy instant access to hundreds of books and audiobooks.
If you need support with this, reach out to Mrs. Phillips or Mrs. Martin.
During the school year, browse our collection online using Destiny Discover and either sign into the system using your SD 62 login credentials and put a hold on the books you would like, or drop us an email with your requests. We will pull these books and have them ready for pick up the next day.

For students to gain access to GAFE, following online forms must be reviewed and signed by both the parent/guardian AND the student.
Looking for an alternative to tictok? Stop by the Library/Learning Commons to select a book based on a couple of intriguing sentences. Sign it out, then open it and enjoy. This way you can’t judge the book by its cover.

A huge thank you to the teachers that brought their classes down and/or encouraged students to engage in the student vote.
A shout out to Mr. Burgess and Ms. Huculak for recruiting student volunteers to run the election. We had a great team of students that volunteered their time to make this happen.
From the National Student Vote Results:
1,181,053 votes were reported from 7,855 schools, with results from 338 federal ridings.
In the preliminary results, students elected a Liberal minority government: the Liberals won the most seats (110), followed by the NDP (99 seats), Conservatives (94 seats), Green Party (28 seats) and Bloc Québecois (9 seats).

A huge shout out to the Times Colonist for continuing to support our Library/Learning Commons. This year Royal Bay received a $1900 to continue to build our library collection. Our focus this year is on accessibility. We will be purchasing books of all reading levels, from local book stores in an attempt to support local small business. From home, we will be getting these books ready to add to our shelves so our students can access them as soon as we are back in the building.
The RBSS Student Book Club visited Hans Helgesen Elementary School, during Literacy Week, to share their favourite books and love of reading.
A huge shout out to our devoted RBSS Tutors who made themselves available at lunch on Wednesdays and during Focus blocks to complete their training and facilitate AVID Tutorials. We hope to see those of you who aren’t graduating back again next year!

We have had peer tutors creating Breakout EDU challenges for their classes. Breakout EDU, an immersive games platform for learners where players work collaboratively to solve a series of critical thinking puzzles in order to open a locked box.
If you are not sure what to read next, check out EPIC READS for a short youtube video synopsis of many young adult titles. If we don’t have it in the Learning Commons, submit a request – we will order it in for you.
